Regents Professor, Oklahoma State University and University Distinguished Professor Emeritus Michigan State University.

Preston will present how Oklahomans perceive of their dialect and will use show, mainly with data on the pronunciation of vowels, whether Oklahomans pattern more with the Midwest, the South, or as some studies have suggested, a state unto themselves.
