Organizational Structure
The Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) has recently undergone some changes and a significant reorganization. This reorganization was necessary to align staff capabilities and expertise with the needs of the Norman Campus research community and the strategic goals of the research enterprise. The following list represents the major organizational areas within the VPR area:
Applied Research and Development – The Center for Applied Research and Development (CARD) focuses on applied research, development and training across all disciplines on the Norman campus and complements existing Norman campus strengths in basic research and outreach. Research Program Development and Enrichment – In an effort to assist faculty in developing grant proposals as well as their research programs, the Center for Research Program Development & Enrichment has been established. To be directed to the Center's website and for more information, click here.
Statistics and Analysis – The Research Statistics and Analysis (RSA) Group gathers, analyzes and disseminates a variety of quantitative information for helping promote, build and achieve success in academic scholarship on the Norman and Tulsa Campuses. Sponsored Research Administration – functioning as a highly trained, customer service-oriented organization, the Office of Research Services' primary purpose is to support research within the University community. ORS reports to the VPR and has responsibility for pre- and post-award research administration including financial administration on the University of Oklahoma – Norman Campus (including Norman Campus programs located on the OU-Tulsa campus). Defense, Security and Intelligence – To substantially increase basic research, applied development, and training on the OU Norman Campus (and Norman Campus programs at OU-Tulsa), and in collaboration with the Health Sciences Center Campus as appropriate, in areas related to national defense, security and intelligence (DSI), the office of the Vice President for Research is coordination the creation of the Defense, Security and Intelligence Research Program. Planning & Research Facilities (PRF) – This department is a portion of the VPR Administration and is responsible for creation and maintenance of an extensive Research Space Inventory for the Norman Campus, oversight of Core Facilities and associated Cost Centers, development of business/management plans for faculty during proposal development involving research equipment and space, new faculty startup provided by the VPR for new equipment and renovation of related space, and, department requests for renovation of existing research space for research growth. Administration, Finance and Data – The Administration, Finance and Data area of the Office of the Vice President for Research is responsible for budgeting, financial administration of VPR programs, personnel administration management, electronic research administration and sponsored programs data management and reporting.
