Faculty Support
At some time in your faculty career, you will need assistance with research. It might come in the form of a proposal review, or help writing an important letter, or using equipment that isn’t in your lab. There are many offices at OU that can help you accomplish what you need to in your research and teaching. Many of them are listed within this folder.
- Center for Research Program Development and Enrichment (CRPDE)
CRPDE is available to provide faculty, staff and students will resources, advice, and assistance in building their research programs. There are many resources on this website and the CRPDE staff also take appointments for individual assistance. - Office of Research Services (ORS)
- Research Information Services (RIS)
RIS provides high-quality information services to the OU community regarding internal and external funding opportunities, workshops and training and provides policy and procedural information regarding proposal submission and grant administration.- Current RIS Workshops
RIS both offers workshops and provides a website for faculty to register for all VPR workshops, lunches with the VPR, and other important university-wide research-related events. This is an important webpage and you should check it frequently.

- OU Writing Center
The Writing Center assists students and faculty across the campus with all types of writing projects at any stage in the writing process. They will work with you to improve your writing projects by providing print resources and feedback in writing consultations, which extend from pre-writing to final drafting.- Publish and Flourish Workshops A series of summer workshops with three distinct parts open to all faculty: starting a new project/grant proposal/article; revising and resubmitting; working on a book proposal for a publisher.

Summer Support
Most faculty are appointed on a 9-month contract, August to May. There are available resources, including external funding, that will allow you to be paid for work over the summer. The links below provide more information and opportunities to provide funds over the summer.
Internal Funding
Sometimes you need funding for research to seed new projects or collect pilot data, or fund a project that is too small for larger grants outside of OU. Both within the Office of the Vice President for Research and many of the colleges, there are several internal funding opportunities that you will want to explore.

Designed to help new tenure-track faculty members establish their research/creative activity and make progress to tenure by providing support to the development of their programs. Awards are used as Summer stipends and are announced by early March. The application deadline is early January each year. - Presidential International Travel Fellowship
This program promotes the internationalization of the University of Oklahoma and assists faculty with international airfare related to their programs abroad. - College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Funding and Awards
CAS offers a number of programs to help fund the College’s faculty in their research/creative activity. This page lists those programs. - OU Faculty Senate Faculty Development Award
The Ed Cline Faculty Development Award provides support to enhance the professional development of faculty and is not limited to only research/creative activities. - OU-Tulsa Internal Funding Opportunities
Faculty at OU-Tulsa are equally important to the mission of the University of Oklahoma. As such, there are a number of funding opportunities for those working in Tulsa. This lists all of those programs. - Big 12 Faculty Fellowship
Research as we all know is not always a solitary endeavor. Because it is important to collaborate and exchange ideas with others in order to further one’s research/creative activities, this program was created for faculty to travel to Big 12 member institutions.
External Funding
Do you want to apply to the National Institutes of Health? How about the Department of Defense? Or maybe to a private foundation? OU has great resources to help faculty find appropriate external funding opportunities and then develop the most competitive proposal possible.
