Job Description:

Andrea is the Associate Vice President for Research and Executive Director. The goal of the Office of Research Services (ORS) under the Vice President of Research (VPR) is to function as a highly trained, customer service-oriented organization whose primary purpose is to support research within the University community. The ORS has responsibility for pre- and post-award research administration including financial administration on the University of Oklahoma – Norman Campus (excluding sponsored programs funded through the College of Continuing Education). The ORS is the institutional unit authorized by the Board of Regents to submit proposals to and accept awards from external entities for financial support in the form of grants, contracts, and cooperative or other agreements. Andrea’s other duties include:

  • Overseeing the function and responsibilities of the Pre- and Post Award areas within ORS
  • Meeting with and advising the VPR regarding matters related to external research administration to ensure and maintain accurate, applicable, audit able policies
  • Unlimited signature authority for all external research funding
Biosketch:

Andrea Deaton is the Associate Vice President for Research and Executive Director of the Office of Research Services at the University of Oklahoma – Norman Campus where she is responsible for ensuring the continuity of daily operations of all pre- and post-award functions related to the administration of sponsored research and creative activities for the Norman campus and related programs on the Tulsa campus.

Andrea received her Masters degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and is a Certified Research Administrator. She is an active member of the Society of Research Administrators International, serving on various committees and presenting frequently for the organization. She is the University's administrative representative to the Federal Demonstration Partnership, also chairing and serving on various committees within this organization.
